Educated at the Medical University of South Carolina and Yale-New Haven Hospital, Dr. Shelbourne is board certified by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. His residency training stressed anesthesia/pain control for both children and adults, removal of wisdom teeth, soft and hard tissue reconstruction for dental/facial implants, corrective jaw surgery for children and adults, facial trauma repair and reconstruction, and evaluation and treatment of various oral pathology and TMJ disorders.

Utilizing the leading Nobel Biocare Dental Implant system, Dr. Shelbourne continues to perform more All-on-4 procedures than any other surgeon in South Carolina. As the first surgeon in South Carolina certified to place the zygomatic implant, he is also able to provide care to patients with severe bone loss. He holds membership in multiple dental societies and has hospital privileges at Roper Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, and East Cooper Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Shelbourne enjoys waterskiing, traveling, gardening, architecture, and spending time with his six children and his wife Rhiannon. He is also an active volunteer in the community, and is passionate about improving the lives of orphans and at-risk children.
